Friday! Friday! Friday!

Hi again, I’m back with more amazing content pertaining to Onil and I’s film opening. We are on a roll and we have been steadily filming these past two days, and it’s coming out spectacularly!

Here’s a sneak peak of some of our important settings and objects below :)

  1. The first picture is a full view of my kitchen
  2. This is the closet in my guest room that opens to the bookshelf. I know the bookshelf is messy and covered by the golf clubs, so my apologies. We will be manipulating it and clearing out any unnecessary items, so our main points will be enhanced.
  3. Picture number 3 & 4 are of our precious album containing the letter from my deceased mother, as I am the main actor (SURPRISE, SURPRISE!)

As Onil and I are both aware, my acting skills are not Grammy worthy, (very far from it) but we are getting through it. The amount of takes we have taken to perfect it are insane. We cannot believe this upcoming week is the last week till we have to submit everything, the time has flown! I guess that’s where the saying, time flies when you’re having from comes from. As the end is nearing, Onil and I will be grinding to perfect and adjust our opening to the best of our abilities. Don’t forget to stay in touch with my postings.

Happy Thursday!
Onil and I have had such a great spring break so far. Working on our project has been our first priority though, with said we have finally finalized our storyboard!
Check it out!
Of course, there will be changes along the filming process, but overall we are super excited and content with what we have come up with. As previously stated in my last 3 postings, filming has been a rollercoaster. Onil and I are constantly making adjustments, so our process as been very unsteady. For example, the funeral scene was changed to just the tombstone, and now it’ll be a paper pamphlet from the ceremony. Hope you guys are as eager to see our finalized opening as we are. Thanks for reading!

Change Sunday,

Hello everyone, I am back! You must be wondering why I would bless you guys with two posts in one day and that’s because of two things. The first thing is I forgot to update you guys on Saturday, which I’m really bummed about as I always blog on that day, but it’s okay. The second thing is that Onil and I have made our first change to our opening, so I’d love to go over that with you guys.
In today’s earlier posting, I explained how we filmed our first scene, we decided to shoot it in Onil’s backyard. This was the most convenient setting that we thought we could easily manipulate, hence the reason we chose to shoot here. We came to find when we put it on WeVideo, an online video editor that we’ll be using to make our opening, that it didn’t look the way we wanted to. Check our this amazing website, which is super neat and easy to work with → https://www.wevideo.com/
How we plan to resolve this issue: We decided to discard our last filming, and refilm in a different setting. The new setting, we hope will work, is my backyard. I think they will be better as my backyard is less modern compared to Onil’s. We don’t know 100% if this will be the better option, but it wouldn’t hurt to try! Next posting, I will include pictures. See ya!

Sunday Madness,

Surprise, surprise my viewers and readers! Onil and I have officially started out film opening, and let me tell you, it’s been very interesting. Although, we only filmed the first scene, (funeral) we are already gaining momentum, so this is relieving some stress that I have pertaining to time. The main character’s gender is drumroll please…… A girl! She is dressed up in all black, per the scene calls for this attire.
Another topic I’d like to discuss with you guys is that we will not be revealing the name of of our main character’s name. We believe this will make it much more mysterious and help to develop our upcoming superhero’s secret powers. The best things always come unexpectedly, and her new powers are a new addition to her identity, therefore she needs a new name. Onil and I were thinking that maybe the title of our film could he her name. Just a thought though, this is not finalized. Refresh frequently for our new updates. Cheers!

It’s Friday!

Hello beautiful people of this world! I am back with some more details regarding Onil and I’s film opening! We haven't started putting things together quite yet, but in this posting I want to bring up the topic of the title we will be using. Unfortunately, we think that coming up with a title now would be much harder than recording the whole opening and deciding then. Although this process may seem a little backwards, it fits us perfectly. We don't want our title to be cheesy, we want it to be clever and unique. I’ll see Onil this weekend to start brainstorming and hopefully start filming. Stay cool & happy spring break!

Happy Hump Day!

I am so eager for Spring Break to start. Onil and I will officially be on break tomorrow, at 12:45. As we’re getting ready to live our best lives, we still have our eyes on the prize (our film opening). Beyond the whole storyline, we started to brainstorm the font we want to incorporate throughout our opening for the credits and title.
Below, I have some ideas and I hope to gain positive feedback from Onil.

One thing I hope to capture and establish with the font, is the tone and genre of the film opening. Out of these seven fonts I’ve picked so far I’m leaning towards permanent marker, caveat brush, or pacifico. These fonts have a creative, and powerful feel to them, which is exactly the feelings I want my audience to inhibit through my opening.

Sunday Funday!

Every Sunday, I spend time with my family. Throughout the week, we’re a household of four workers. My mom and brother work till late at night, so I only see them right before I go to sleep. On the other hand, my dad comes home around the time school is over, but then I have to go to work. Growing up, my dad has always been more present than my mom, but I still spend as much time as I can with her. In turn, I’ve always looked forward to Sundays as we all would be together and I love it. I never take my family for granted, and every moment I spend with them as a whole or individually is time never wasted.
Anyway, Onil and I have been working vigorously to plan everything out before we start shooting. We haven’t settled on all the shots and techniques we want to utilize yet, but we are currently in the process of doing so.

Us currently:

We don’t look like we’re working here, but I promise we were. I’ll have visuals for you guys next posting, stay in touch. Have a beautiful week!

On this rainy Saturday,

I’m stressing out about the deadline of this entire project. I’ll try not to get ahead of myself just yet as Onil and I still have time. Looking back onto my last post I realized that filming someone’s tombstone at a graveyard (as that what we were thinking of doing) would be super insensitive. I wouldn’t want a high school student filming any one of my family member’s tombstones, so we had to come up with a new way, but we want to maintain the same concept.
Great news, I was looking on YouTube and I suddenly had the brilliant thought of searching up a DIY (do it yourself) for tombstones. Personally, I love doing these as I have made so many things ranging from clothing, accessories, and gift ideas. Back to what I found, check out this sick video → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpCAfhXtQn0 !!
This way, we will be able to film the funeral scene, get our hand dirty, and creatively make the tombstone the way we want it. I think this will be very effective and I can’t wait to buy the materials to start working on it with Onil!

Happy Thursday!

Today was such a good day, as I had another group meeting to discuss and get ideas from my peers about my project. I met with Raul, Juan, Malena, and Rachel, which was super helpful to further establish my opening film.

Here’s a picture of all of us:

Since there was so many tips they all gave me, I want to share the most insightful one. As my opening is starting off at a funeral, I pondered how Onil and I were going to make this happen. I told my peers that we would either set up a funeral scene at a park, or go to a cemetery. Onil and I were leaning towards creating our own funeral scene, but then my peers said it would be very time consuming to get the proper actors and manipulate the mise-en-scene. They told me to film when the funeral is over and the main character is leaving, maybe as he/she is putting their flowers down at their mother’s grave. This was super helpful, and when I discussed it with Onil she was very on-board with this revision. We’ve got that settled, and I can’t wait to film it!

On this lovely Tuesday,
I have some super interesting information for you guys. Onil and I are still stuck upon our superpower film opening, which is really good news. Both of us are very spontaneous people and our minds are constantly evolving, so it says a lot considering we haven’t tried to change our story. In order to stay on track I’ve decided to make a monthly planner and I will try my best to make sure we stick to it.
Check it out:
Well, that’s not how I planned to show you guys it, the text boxes that I inserted on Google Docs aren’t working with me :(. The main thing I want to point out is that Spring Break is starting for us on Thursday, the 21st till the 31st. Onil and I plan on filming most of our video during this time. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we will be enjoying our break, but the days after that, it’ll be business time. I can’t wait to show you guys some sneak peaks!

Welcome back!
Bad news, in my last posting I told you guys that I’d have the pictures from Storyboarders attached, but my computer is not working with the site. In the future, I will be trying my best to make it work and I will show you guys what animations have came out of my drawings. Although, I was unable to show you guys through Storyboarders, I have a drawing of the most important element of our opening, the bookshelf and the album falling onto the floor.

Here’s the sketch!

I wanted to show you guys this drawing specifically as it is as I said, the most important scene. As our main character will move the album out from the bookshelf onto the floor with her powers, this will be the moment the individual and the audience will be introduced to this. As my readers can see the book falls as the red pen displays this and our main character looks at the book and it drops to the floor, hence the combining colors of blue and red. I want the book to be the color red because this color represents, love, passion, and power. I hope you guys enjoyed seeing my vision. Can’t wait to update you guys on what’s to come!

Hello beautiful people!

I can’t explain to you guys how relieved I am that Onil and I have settled on a steady film opening. For a moment, I was getting ready to steal one of my peers ideas, just kidding! I knew it would come to us in time, but I didn’t know it would take this long, as it felt like forever. I was recently introduced to this website called Storyboarders. With the website, I’m allowed to upload my drawings and it will transform them into an virtual animation. I find this very helpful and interesting, as I can visually see my ideas come to life. I hope it’ll point out what seems to be wrong within our storyline and praise all the good. If you’re interested in checking this innovative tool out, the link is right here → https://storyboarders.com/

Unfortunately, Onil and I are struggling with the specific shots we want to capture throughout our opening so I haven’t been about to use this site. In my next posting I’ll be glad to show you guys what Storyboarders has created from my drawings. Don’t forget to check in, have a lovely rest of your Saturday!

It’s Friday and I’m so ready for the weekend!

Last posting, I explained that I would have a more in-depth idea of what our film opening will include and thankfully, I do! It has been three weeks since we have started this project and I cannot believe it took THIS long to get our final idea. Right now my readers are probably hanging at the end of their seats thinking, “Amanda, shut up already and tell me!” The answer is not yet, considering the fact that I love the element of suspense and surprise. Now that you guys are so eager to know what Onil and I have agreed upon, we’ll get to it.
To start off, we want to set the scene at a funeral, more specifically the main character’s mother’s funeral. The crowd is mourning, and her child is devastated, but we don’t want our viewers to get too involved in the scene, we only want them to understand that his mother has passed away. Then we’ll move onto the son (we haven’t decided if it’ll be a boy or girl) after the funeral, staring blindly into the walls of his house. The most important element of our opening will be the bookshelf. This bookshelf will contain the biggest change of the main character’s life. As he is looking at it, a photo album suddenly falls to the ground and curiously, he goes to pick it up. What he does not know is his mother’s power that he inherited summoned the book to fall. He opens it to find a notes from his deceased mother, it explained how she had a superpower, and when she dies, he will absorb it overtime. This was a shock to him, as he had no idea, but he is anxious to see what power he will behold. Throughout the end up the opening he is trying to call upon his power as a whole, and when he finally does the title of our film will be displayed.
This new and improved idea is super original and creative. We will have to manipulate different lights, objects, and the mise-en-scene greatly, but I can’t wait to see it all come together. I really think Onil and I have finally had a breakthrough, as we’ve previously been stuck. Stay by your computer as every posting from here on will be juicy! Have a wonderful weekend!

On this feel good Thursday,

I finally wanted to present to you guys Onil and I's project progress. It has been a week since I last explained what we have in store. We've decided that are last idea was not original, so we searched through movies to find a source that we could get inspiration from. In turn, we thought that we can use what we are most interested in to come up with something original for our film opening. Growing up, one of my favorite movies was Sky High. This movie consists of multiple characters who have superpowers. Everyday, the characters go to a special school up in the sky, foreshadowing the title of the movie to learn, practice, and enhance their gifts. Below is a picture of the main characters that really brought this movie to life. It targets young teens, which is exactly who Onil and I want to target through our opening.

You guys are probably wondering why I’m sharing this information with you guys and I’m so excited to share what we came up with. We want to incorporate superpowers in our film opening. Although this may be challenging to execute, we know that if we can do it, it’ll be spectacular. That’s what we’ve come up with so far, and in the next posting I’ll have more specific details of how we hope everything will pan out. Add my blog to your favorites, or even bookmark it to get the updates!
